Description

Sculpture A cartridges were born from a desire to adapt modern tip profiles to a classic Denon 103 generator. Although it retains very few parts from the original unit, the original Alnico magnets still prevail. A new dual structure body was developed which allows damping and shielding of the generator from both internal and external vibrations. This new structure also helps achieve specific stylus tracking angles for each of the different diamond tip profiles Sculpture A use. Each of the tip profiles has its advantages and sonic benefits, allowing you to choose the specific presentation that suits your taste and synergises best with the rest of your system.

The A.3SPP uses an Early Stereo tip profile, a boron cantilever and achieves relatively high output voltage.
The ‘Early Stereo’ tip profile is an elliptical design stylus with two radii, the front radius being wider than the side radius. This allows the stylus to ride in the center of the groove, like the conical stylus, while the smaller side radius can more accurately track higher frequencies. Compared to a conical stylus however, the elliptical stylus has a longer vertical contact area and a narrower front to back contact area within the record groove. The elliptical tip follows the groove modulations with more precision, providing improved frequency response, improved phase response, and lower distortion, specifically in the inner grooves of the record.

The ‘macro-details’ of the music are presented beautifully with the micro-details falling in place effortlessly. The sound is lush yet immediate – a stunning music maker!
