Nirvana Sound at the StereoNet Show 2022
It was our pleasure to present at the recent StereoNet Hi-Fi Show at the Pullman Hotel, Albert Park in Melbourne. This was the first show after long delay due to the global pandemic and there was a warm, celebratory vibe as people returned in great numbers to experience the various offerings, buy some records and connect with fellow enthusiasts.
From our point of view, we have been part of setting up rooms at the Munich High-End show for many years but we had never presented in Australia, so this was in a way the public show debut for Nirvana Sound. We were honoured to host Andre and Vanessa Gil from AG Lifter in New Zealand who kindly visited Melbourne for a few days to support the show and debut their new Apollo Reference Rack and Amp stand which we proudly used in our room.
We decided that in terms of the type and size of the room, to demonstrate the following system:
Turntable: Dohmann Audio Helix One Mk2
Tonearms: Schroder LT & Schroder CB9
Cartridges: Koetsu Blue Lace & My Sonic Lab Signature Platinum
Server: Taiko Audio Extreme
CD/DAC: Aesthetix Romulus
Phono: Aesthetix Rhea Signature
Amplifier: Ypsilon Phaethon Silver Integrated Amplifier
Loudspeakers: Wilson Benesch Resolution
System Cables: Stage III Concepts Typhon
Power Cables: Stage III Concepts Trydent
Isolation: AG Lifter Apollo 4 Shelf Rack and Amp Stand
It was important for us to play a very diverse range of music and avoid the typical audiophile pressings so that we can relax, have fun and achieve more of a ‘real world’ sound. Our philosophy is that what binds us together in this hobby is a shared love of music. The equipment simply facilitates our connection to the music so we wanted to make our room less about the equipment and more about the celebration of the musical artform.
We also decided to give away a pair of Abyss Diana 2 headphones ($5,990) so on Sunday at 3pm, Vanessa reached into a black plastic bag containing all the entries and pulled out a name. Lee B was the lucky recipient of these delectable headphones. As luck would have it, he was staying at the hotel so when we called him, he just came down the elevator and picked them up!
We had a wonderful three days of fun and we really enjoyed meeting so many people and making connections. I am sure that many of them will become friends and become part of the Nirvana Sound community. These connections are very dear to us and we look forward to seeing many of you at our events or just popping in to say hello.
Harry treated us to a selection of eclectic jazz pieces that stunned the people in our room, Eugene reminded us why we love 80’s music so much, Mark thrilled us with a range of gems ranging from Beethoven to the B52’s and Andre hypnotised us with a rare Muddy Waters recording. All in all, the music reigned supreme and it was fabulous to see so many people getting into it.
On behalf of the Nirvana Sound team, I’d like to that the people that visited our room and we hope that you enjoyed your experience. I’d like to thank Marc Rushton and his wonderful StereoNet team who made the show possible – these people worked so hard to deliver the event.
I’d like to thank Eugene, Harry, Chris, Andrew and many others who volunteered their time to help our room. You guys are the best and your efforts are so appreciated. You are forever part of our family.
I’d like to thank Andre and Vanessa for supporting the show with your presence and your wonderful racks. Everyone who met you loved your enthusiasm and knowledge. We believe that it is only a matter of time before the world discovers how amazing your isolation products actually are!
Finally, thank you to the Nirvana Sound team. Sophie’s customer care approach is exceptional and we are so lucky to have an industry luminary like Mark playing tunes and taking us down musical rabbit holes with his interesting insights 😊
See you next time!
